Wild Jack Dempsey cichlids can be found in North and Central America where they inhabit a region that stretches from the Papaloapán River in southern Mexico to the Hondurian Ulua River in Central America. This fish has the ability of reaching 10 inches! A territorial fish, it is best if kept with other cichlids of the same size and temperament.
Jack Dempsey is carnivorous and will eat most prepared and frozen foods, including freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and ocean plankton, as well as live fish that are can fit in their mouth.
